In 2016, a partnership between ALEXBANK’s initiative by “Ebda3 men Masr” and Fair Trade Egypt started where both entities combined their efforts to increase the possibilities of achieving their mutual interests towards a common developmental goal of empowering artisans’ communities in Egypt. Among those opportunities identified for cooperation are providing employment, generating sustainable income and capacity building to the marginalized artisans, as well as supporting national economic development through increasing export opportunities. ALEXBANK also has partnered with us for the production of its staff annual giveaways for 2 years in a row producing beautiful handmade products from Fayoum.”
In 2016, El Nidaa- ENID has developed a strategic partnership with “Ebda3 men Masr” by ALEXBANK named “Cluster Formation for Handicrafts and Entrepreneurial Development in Upper Egypt”, tackling skills development, employability and job creation in a number of villages, impacting approximately 650 beneficiaries in Qena governorate. Also in 2016, the bank has partnered with us to crate beautiful Alabstar lamp named Nour to serve as corporate giveaways to customers.
We are proud at Yadaweya to have cooperated with “Ebda3 men Masr” by ALEXBANK to market and promote for more artisans’ work giving them access to markets and giving them better opportunities during the International handcrafts show that took place in November 2016, but we are more proud that in 2017, we have kicked a new long term and impactful partnership aiming at building the capacity needed by more than 350 artisans and provide them with relevant programs that support the Egyptian arts and heritage.
I am proud to have collaborated with Ebda3 men Masr initiative through their support in the first international handcrafts show that took place in November 2017 which was the best exhibition I have ever attended as a group from Siwa and the number of sales is exceptional not only to me but that was everyone’s impression and I am really looking forward to this year’s exhibition.”
Coming from Aswan and having experienced the International Handcrafts Show as a local artisan was a life changing experience for me and my group, this has been a tremendous opportunity for us to display our various products but most importantly to increase people's awareness on the importance of supporting the Egyptian authentic handicrafts. It was a surprise for us to see a bank that support our cause and I hope that this is not the only collaboration with Ebda3 men Masr.
Ebda3 men Masr is an initiative that we as local artisans are very proud of and very close to our hearts. My experience with Ebda3 men Masr was through the International Hancrtafts show that I never knew it existed and it was a great opportunity to cooperate with them and to receive an exceptional offer to represent the craft of authentic mat production in the Egyptian Pavilion in Dubai which is recorded as one of Egypt's crafts endangered to disappear by UNESCO.”
